The plate is rectangular and flat, terminating in a narrow neck and an openwork terminal. Just before the terminal on the main plate is a pair of opposing U-shaped notches, one of which is slightly damaged. A cast lead alloy trade weight dating from the Medieval period, about AD 1300 - 1500. It is shield shaped and has a raised shield shaped area on the front face. The central design is of a crown over a fleur in relief. The weight has a mass of 213gm (7 1/2oz) so was probably intended as an 8oz weight. Similar weights are discussed and illustrated in Biggs and Withers, 2000, Lead Weights: The David Rogers Colle…

A Medieval silver coin; half cut voided long cross penny of Henry III (AD 1216 - 1272), Class Va - Vc dating from AD 1250 - 1256. The moneyer is probably Gilbert at Canterbury, but the reverse lettering is not grouped in the usual way reading: "[...]/(RT)[-]/ON C". It is 16.6mm long, 9.0mm wide and 0.75mm thick. It weighs 0.59gm. See North number 991/1 - 993, pages 226 - 227 of North (1994) Volume 1.
