A complete copper-alloy trade weight of possible Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1760 - 1820.
The weight is circular in plan with a raised rim and sides which taper from the top to the base giving a sub-trapezoidal profile. The centre is marked by a circle (13mm in diameter.) The 'front' face of the object is worn but some details are distinguishable.
At 12 o'clock is a dagger or the sword of St. Paul; 3 o'clock is a crowned 'G'; 6 o'clock is indistinguishable but perhaps a ewer and 9 o'clock is an 'A'. These symbols indicated the weight is of the reign of King George III.

Copper alloy object, possibly a weight.
A late Early-Medieval copper alloy barrel-shaped weight.
The object is globular, solid, and has a slightly flattened surface at opposing ends, which allow it to sit still without rolling. There is a circular mark at these two ends, one of which is of a white colour. The ends of the object are decorated, in one case with a circular line around the centre circle, and, in the other, with a thin, petal-like design extending around the centre circle.
The rest of the object is decorated with shapes in relief; a larger shape (possibly a …

A cast lead alloy spindle whorl or loom weight of probable medieval date. It is oval in plan and conical in section with a flat base. All surfaces are undecorated and have an uneven pale grey patina. The central perforation is 6mm in diameter, and is exposed on one side, presumably due to damage.
Lead weights of this form were commonly used throughout the medieval and post-medieval period and are therefore difficult to date accurately. Examples of spindle whorls have reportedly been found in contexts dated from the Roman through to the Post-Medieval period although the majority are…
