Object type: PIPE (SMOKING)
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Cheshire East
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
An incomplete clay pipe (smoking) dating to the post medieval period (c.AD 1620-1660).
Most of the bowl survives, but the rim is incomplete. The bowl is slightly bulbous and curves upwards at an angle of 45 degrees.
A circular foot is present, but it is quite abraded and it is difficult to determine if it has been stamped with any maker's mark. There is an uneven border of small impressed horizontal notches around the pipe, around 5mm away from the rim. This becomes a border of vertical notches around the front of the bowl.
Only a small part of the stem survives.
