A medieval gold finger ring (c. AD 1400 – 1500). The band is flat with a rectangular cross section and has been bent with two sides flattened against each other. On the exterior is an incised blackletter inscription with the words alternating with sprigs of foliage and flowers. The outer edges of the band are decorated with a border containing pellets. A Roman lead alloy finger ring decorated with snake head terminals (c. AD 100 - 300). The hoop of the finger ring has a gap at the back of the hoop, suggesting that the snake head terminals are fused together; cast in one piece. A post medieval to modern copper alloy finger ring, dating from c. AD 1700 - 1900. The bezel of the finger ring is in the shape of a D shaped buckle, complete with pin. This has been fixed to the hoop, and is not a separate working object. The hoop is decorated with vertical and V-shaped inscised lines with dots in between, immitating the strap end and holes of a belt. The hoop has been distorted and is now oval shaped. A copper alloy Roman 'ToT' finger ring, Henig type XI, dating from AD 100 -  300. The ring has a flat rectangular bezel with tapering shoulders and narrowed hoop. The ring is a ‘memento mori’ ring which has an inscribed skull on the exterior of the otherwise plain, D-shaped band and inscribed on the interior is the phrase ‘Sir Tho: Gresly obyt 5 June 99’ followed by a small shield containing the letters ‘S/T//P’. A gold finger ring dating to the medieval period (c. AD 1250-1500). The ring has a central, square bezel with a shorter collar on either side where the bezel meets the band. In the centre of the bezel is a red, oval gem, probably a garnet, and surrounding this is a pattern of dots and incised lines radiating outwards to the corners of the bezel. The object appears to have been fashioned by attaching the bezel, shoulders and setting of an existing ring to a separate, probably, older posy ring with a kind of resin or adhesive which has hardened to a dark colour. The bezel is faceted and houses a pale-yellow gem or paste stone with a complex cut. There are traces of the dark material used to secure the hoop and bezel around the setting. It is dark green with a light green and brown patina. Diameter 20.66mm, width of band 4.11mm, thickness 1.59mm and weight 1.95g. Similar decoration is illustrated on rings found in the London area in Egan and Pritchard, 1991, p. 331, fig 217, ref nos 1627 & 1629, which both date to the 15th century, between AD c. 1400 - c. 1450.
