Copper-alloy sexfoil mount of medieval date (c. AD 1350 - 1400). The object has a domed plate in the form of a sexfoil flower and an integral rivet on the back face, although only the base of this now remains. Silvered or tinned copper-alloy disc mount with two iron rivets, probably of Roman or early medieval date (c. AD 43 - 1100). The mount comprises a circular copper-alloy disc which has been tinned or silvered on both sides. Two red-brown iron rivets are positioned transversely across the top of the mount, the heads of which are concave and irregular. The rivets on the underside are attested by a rectangular encrusted patch, which possibly retains the impression of textile. The edges of the object are slightly fragmentary. It is 25.71mm in diameter, 1.55mm in thickness and weighs 3.67g.…

Copper-alloy Roman 'vulvate' or 'coffee bean' mount, dating to the period c. AD 150 - 300. The mount is oval in shape, with a flat rim and convex body. A groove running down the centre of the convex body gives the impression of a coffee bean. There is a circular-sectioned rivet at each end on the underside of the mount. The mount has a blue-grey patina. It is 20.98mm in length, 12.05mm in width and 11.18mm at maximum thickness. The mount weighs 3.96g.

Incomplete copper-alloy mount of post-medieval date (c. AD 1600 - 1700). The mount comprises a flat pear-shaped body that terminates in a rounded, knopped protrusion at the wider end and a broken, rectangular protrusion at the other end. The broken edge of the rectangular protrusion is abraded. There is an integrally-cast pointed rivet extending from the back of the broken protrusion; this has been bent outwards so that it now lies in parallel with the body of the object. A circular stump on the back face of the knopped protrusion indicates that a similar rivet was once positioned the…

Incomplete copper-alloy figurative mount of probably late medieval to early post-medieval date (c. 1400 - 1600 AD). The object probably comes from a casket or reliquary; it is in the form of a haloed angel in draped vestments. The angel holds a sword in its right hand, the blade of which runs across the angel's body. The angel's left wing is present, although the right wing and the legs of the figure are missing, leaving an abraded, broken edge. Cast lead bar mount with integral rivets, possibly with the function of repairing a vessel. Probably post-medieval with the suggested date range: c.1500 - 1800 AD. The object is flat and broadly rectangular, with ends that narrow to a point. A ridged casting seam is visible across the length of the back face of the object. Also on the back face are the remains of three rivets, one positioned centrally and the others at either end. These have been broken off close to the base and flattened. The abraded nature of the breaks suggests this occurred in antiquity when the object was truncat…

Small copper-alloy mount of medieval to post-medieval date (c. 1300 - 1700 AD). The mount is in the form of a scallop shell with trefoil above. On the back of the object are two integral rivets; one is positioned to one side approximately halfway up the object, the other at the apex of the shell's curve, on the very edge. Copper-alloy zoomorphic object of unknown date, probably within the range c. 43 - 1700 AD, and uncertain function, probably a mount. The object is broadly oval in shape and convex, in the shape of what appears to be a lion's head with moulded features and incised details such as eyes and mane. The object flattens slightly at the top, where a spur protrudes from the back, tapering rapidly into a blunt point. The end of the spur is worn and seems to represent a break. This spur does not seem to have been integrally cast with the rest of the object. The edges of the object are worn and a…
