Possible handle sherd from a greyware vessel of Roman date (c. 43 - 410 AD). The sherd is curved along the longitudinal axis. The fabric of the sherd is grey throughout and hard. There are intermediate white inclusions of irregular angular shape, many of which are <4mm in size (the smallest being approximately 1mm). The sherd is 49.46mm in length, 36.21mm in width and 11.97mm in thickness. It weighs 28.94g.

The exterior and interior surface are light red, while the core is light grey/brown. Sparse white angular inclusions, possibly quartz, and profuse oval cavities ranging in size from <1mm to c. 2mm. The broken edges of the sherd are worn. The sherd is 39.68mm in length, 41.05mm in width and 13.61mm at maximum thickness. It weighs 17.72g.

Below the rim is a band that curves outwards before angling in rapidly before the curved body of the vessel. The red fabric of the vessel is fine and hard throughout with a glossy red slip on both sides. The broken edges of the sherd are abraded and the slip has been worn away in patches on both sides. Sparse, angular poorly-sorted voids (possibly from limestone inclusions) and green glaze on one side of the sherd, on the inner surface of the vessel. The sherd is triangular in section with heavy abrasion of the break. The exterior of the sherd is black in colour, with a rough, light brown core. It is hard with sparse small quartz inclusions in the core.
