Complete copper alloy late Roman zoomorphic type nail-cleaner strap-end dating c. 250-410AD.  The nail cleaner has a piriform blade with rounded shoulders and a V shaped groove on the front terminating in a bifed tip. The object has two stylised animal heads just above the curved shoulders. A copper-alloy strap-fitting probably from a medieval horse harness. It is sub rectangular in plan with a circular loop at one end (diameter: 18.0mm), and a triangular terminal at the other (17mm x 10.5mm), which is perforated for a rivet. Between the loop and the rivet hole the fitting has a long narrow shaft which has a flat back and is triangular in cross section.  Below the loop is a stylized face, immediately underneath which is another rivet that survives corroded in situ.
