A complete gold post-medieval posy ring, dating to the period AD 1700-1800. It has a D-shaped band with a flat inner side and a plain exterior. The interior is inscribed with a 'posey': 'Godly love will not remove' followed by a stamped makers mark, the letter written in lower case e in bracket. The finger ring measures 20.65mm in diameter, is 1.8mm thick and weighs 3.1g. Posy rings were popular love tokens and were often exchanged as betrothal or wedding gifts.
