It is decorated on both sides with a row of semi-spheres in a row surrounding the central hole which is 7mm in diamater. In between some of the semi-spheres are raised lines running outwards and terminating at the slightly raised lip running around the whorl. Its form matches Walton Rogers form C, which she dates to the medieval period.

Medieval lead alloy spindle whorl, 1100-1500, Width: 22 mm, diameter: 30 mm, weight: 60.60 grams. The whorl is circular in form and bi-conical in cross section with an central hole, 10mm in diameter. It has very steep slightly concave sides, with a central projecting ridge. It is decorated with a series of raised chevrons forming a star pattern near the centre, interspersed with dots and further chevrons.
