The object is circular in form and rectangular in cross section, with a circular sectioned fixing prong, 4mm in diamater, emerging from the centre of its reverse side. The surface is decorated with a beast in relief, which was once filled with red enamel. It appears to be a dragon or a wyvern and is facing left (as shown) with two legs/arms, with curved projections along their lower edge (representing fur?) pointing left and terminating in three claws. Medieval copper alloy belt stud, dating to c.1200-1400, Length: 16 mm, diameter: 18 mm, weight: 2.79 g.
The object is circular in form and semi-circular in cross section. It has a domed upper surface which is formed of five petal like sections, divided by an incised line and with a triangular projection. There is s central shaft below which has been turned to fix it in place. This is still attached to a patch of leather which has been preserved as the object was recovered from a boggy area.
