Post medieval iron spearhead or pike blade? Length: 1200 mm, width: 29 mm, thickness: 25 mm, weight: 178.00 g The object has a triangular form and a lozenge shaped sub rectangular cross section, which becomes circular near its base. It tapers in width slightly to a point and has a prominent ridge running down the centre of each blade. At its base there is a circular opening which has a small circular hole in one side just above its damaged edge, so it appears intact in length. Early medieval iron adze? Length: 109 mm, width: 43 mm, thickness: 15 mm, weight: 161grams. The object is rectangular in form and cross section and consists of a flat ended blade like section, which tapers in width from 43 to 21mm, where it forms a rectangular cross sectioned shaft. This has one face which is rounded to accomodate a circular hole through its centre. Its possibly an adze or a wide bladed chisel? The objects function is unknown but it was found as part of an assemblage including a possible hammer head LEIC-FF95BA, a bill? LEIC-FFA643 and a possible blade? LEIC-FF8999…

Early Medieval iron object, possibly a bill? length: 79 mm, width: 35 mm, thickness: 6.0 mm, weight: 26.71 grams The object is in poor condition and is currently rectangular in form and cross section, with one intact rounded side projection, 27 long, 18 wide and 4mm thick. The opposite side has the probable remains of a second projection. Kevin Leahy notes it may have been 'part of a bill as found in the Flixborough hoard or the improbably light 'plough share' in the Westley Waterless hoard.' The object is roughly rectangular in form and cross section and one surface has a circular projection, c10mm high. The object has been x-rayed and was inpenetrable. The radiographer suggested it may be due to a lead core? The objects function is unknown but it was found as part of an assemblage including an adze LEIC-FFB304 and a bill? Early medieval? iron object, Length: 112 mm, width: 53 mm, thickness: 5.0 mm, weight: 53.10 grams. The object is rectangular in cross section and oval (leaf shaped) in form. It has an integral oval hole, set in a rounded projection at one narrow end. The opposite end is rectangular in form and incpomplete. It is a possibility that the 'loop' has been formed by bending a linear projection over the plate, but x-rays revealed no eivdenece of this. Early medieval iron shield boss, 21 mm wide, 117mm in diameter, 115mm deep and weighing 248 grams. The boss is circular in form and triangular in cross section. It has a small section of flat rim present at its base, which is 21 mm wide. Above this there is a straight sided section c.20mm high, which turns outwards to form a lipped projection. This forms the base of the cone. This tapers inwards and terminates with a short rod at its apex. This houses a sub-spherical projection with a flat circular base.
