Bronze age copper alloy axe fragment, 1500-1150 BC. Length: 39 mm, width: 49 mm, thickness: 14 mm, weight: 84 g. Fragment of a probably palstave axe, consisting of the rounded, splayed blade and part of the solid rectangular shaped and cross sectioned body (29mm wide) which is decorated with a rounded ridge running down its centre towards the blade.

Roman copper alloy probable nail cleaner of Baldock type, Length: 33 mm, width: 8 mm, thickness: 1 mm, weight: 1.5 g. The object has a sub triangular form and cross section and consists of an elongated triangular shaped plate which has rounded 'shoulders' flanking an integral transverse suspension loop. The loop is triangular in form and has a curved end, which would have formed the loop, now missing. The objects form suggests a nail cleaner but it has no bifurcation at its tip and no decoration, but is similar to BH-19766A and BUC-9F4DC6.

Roman copper alloy Colchester derivative, double pierced lug, Harlow type brooch, length: 43 mm, width: 22 mm, thickness: 10 mm, weight: 8.04 g. The brooch consists of short open semi-circular cross sectioned wings, which sit below a spring of 8 coils. The spring is held in place by a central semi-circular suspension loop which sits at the top of a linear ridge running down the centre of the flat rectangular shaped and cross sectioned bow. This is incomplete missing its catchplate and pin.

This is a coin of British Association, struck in Rome for issue in Britain - 39 specimens were found in the Sacred Spring in Bath (As Walker, 1988: p. 291, nos. 1-39, pl. XXXI).

Early medieval copper-alloy brooch fragment. Length: 34 mm, width: 20 mm, thickness: 4 mm, weight: 6.21 g. The object comprises the incomplete headplate only, and is probably from a cruciform brooch. The headplate is flat and rectangular, and missing most of its edge; it is decorated with five (two incomplete) ring-and-dot motifs, one centrally placed and the others in each corner. There is no evidence for any wings. At one edge of the headplate is a centrally placed top knob cast in one with the headplate. A copper-alloy Roman barbarous radiate copying a coin of Tetricus II (AD 272-274) with a reverse type of Tetricus I, dating to the period AD 275-285 (Reece period 14). [LAETITIA AVGN/AVGG] reverse type depicting Laetitia standing left holding purse and anchor. Cf. Normanby no. 1988. The coin appears to have been deliberately pierced, the triangular shape of the perforation suggesting by a knife blade or similar.

The brooch has solid circular cross sectioned wings which taper slightly in width towards their ends. At the centre of these is a rectangular recess to allow for a hinged pin, now missing. The bow has a D shaped cross section and also tapers in width, narrowing towards its base, now missing. It is decorated on the front surface with an elongated triangular rounded projection, which is flanked by an incised border of transverse lines.
