Silver long cross penny of Henry VI, First Reign (1422-1461). The coin is cracked and very worn, and most of the inscriptions are illegible, but the end of [hENR]ICVS can be made out in the obverse legend and CIVITAS [DVNO] LMI can be seen in the reverse legend, so it might be Durham mint. The initial mark appears to be a cross fleury with rounded ends but it is very worn and other marks are not visible to confirm this association. The ornaments and the central fleur in the crown are joined up to form a row of four circles.

A heavily clipped and worn silver shilling of Charles I (1625-1649), Exeter mint (1643-1646). The coin has been clipped right down to the inner circle so that all the inscriptions are missing, and the obverse of the coin is worn almost flat. The coin has also been bent into an S-shaped profile, perhaps to be used as a 'love token'. The obverse has a crowned bust facing left that appears to be from the outline a large Oxford type bust with X[II] behind the head. The reverse carries a garnished oval shield with the initials C and R on either side of the shield. Spink 3082

Silver Penny of Edward III (1327-1377), Durham mint. It appears to belong to the Pre-Treaty Series G (1356-1361), listed in Wren (1995) p.94 as a variety listed by Lawrence for Durham which has large annulet stops in the obverse legend and an annulet on each shoulder. The legend on the obverse is EDWARDVS REX ANGLI and on the reverse is CIVITAS DVIIELmIE, with a crozier before the C of CIVITAS. The initial mark is Wren's Cross 3. The 'N' is formed of two II and the 'm' is Lombardic. The X in REX is illegible. The coin is generally in good condition with a section of the edge missing.

Silver long cross penny, severely clipped all round and very worn, probably an Irish penny of Edward IV (c.1470-78). No inscriptions visible owing to the clipping. The obverse has a crowned bust with upright later crown, large round eyes, short thin hair and a simple neck with potentially marks by the crown, but it is too worn to be sure, Spink S6323.

Silver cut half of a voided long cross penny of Henry III (1216-1272), Class II (1248), minted at Exeter. The letters NR are ligatured in the obverse legend and their position around the bust suggests the rest of the legend would have been [*h]ENRICVS [REX TERCI]. The only letters from the mint signature visible on the reverse are [PhI/LIP]/ON/ECC, which suggests the moneyer might be Philip, Robert or Walter, who all have six letters and minted Class II pennies in Exeter.

On the reverse the N and D of LVND are ligated.

A fragment of a silver long cross penny, half of it missing and clipped round the edge. Very little is visible on the obverse, but the reverse is from the York mint, with a plain quatrefoil in the centre of the cross (without central cross or pellet). None of the letters are legible. This form of reverse belongs to coins minted at York, either in the reign of Henry IV (light coinage 1412-1413) or Henry VI (First reign, 1427-1430) according to Wren (1995, pp.105 & 113).

A silver cut half of a voided long cross penny of Henry III (1216-1272), Class 3b or 3c (1248-1250), struck at the Newcastle mint. The moneyer's name is not present, but the men operating from the Newcastle mint at the time of Class III were Roger, Adam, Henri and Ion (North, 1994, Vol.1, p.226, nos.987-988) and there is room for 5 letters so the moneyer is either Roger or Henri. The obverse is cut vertically through the crowned head, but the star initial mark is visible above the central fleur of the crown.
