An incomplete, worn and damaged decorative strip of Medieval gilded copper-alloy, probably a book mount c.AD 1250-1450. The outer face of the mount has bands of linear decoration along its length with some cross hatching between the lines, and there are faint traces of gilding in places. The back is plain. The strip of metal is rectangular in plan and thin and flat in section, torn on the edges and bent, with irregular circular pitting on the outer surface which may or may not be intentional - ie something may have been glued there.
