A copper alloy pointed oval, or vesica-shaped, 'Virgin and Child' seal matrix dating to the medieval period (c.AD1200-1250).
The seal matrix is, as noted above, pointed oval in shape, with intact suspension loop (or handle) and tapering raised midrib on the reverse. The upper section of the obverse depicts a columned niche with the Virgin Mary seated within, wearing a crown, with three arches above and columns to either side. A cast lead seal matrix dating to the Medieval period (c.AD1200-1300)
The matrix is a pointed oval (vessica) shape in plan, with a cental motif featuring a crescent moon to the left partially enclosing a six-pointed star.
The legend reads +SIGILLV’.WALtER’. (Seal of Walter).
On the reverse is a central rib with a perforated lug at the top of the seal. The object has a whitish grey patina and is in good condition.
Dimensions: Length: 28.15 mm; Width: 19.38 mm; Thickness: 3.05 mm; Weight: 9 g.

Description: A silver seal matrix dating to the post-medieval period (c.AD1600-1700)
The seal matrix comprises a double-sided flat oval swivelling bezel held in situ, although no longer rotatable within its frame. One face of the seal depicts a shield blazoned with a chevron, two boar's heads couped above, one below, all left facing (note that all would be right facing when the seal was impressed). Description: A silver seal matrix, dating to the post-medieval period, c.AD 1700-1800.
The die (face of the seal) is oval in plan and rectangular in cross section. The reverse face of the die rises slightly toward centre, and is decorated with a series of oval shaped petals in relief, that radiate from the central pedestal. An incomplete medieval lead alloy 'vesica' type seal matrix, dating from c.AD 1200 - c.AD 1400.
The seal has been cast in one piece, and is an uneven pointed oval, or vesica, shape in plan with a flat rectangular cross section. There is a what appears to be a foliate design in the centre of the matrix; the legend is largely illegible but appears to read in part S(?) HUT(?)[...]. On the reverse the traces of a central rib are visible, along with the broken projecting attachment loop at one end.
