An incomplete copper alloy Colchester derivative, hinged brooch dating to the Roman period (c. AD 43-65). The brooch comprises the wings, which have been decorated with incised linear grooves. The bow emerges from the middle of the wings as a bulbous projection, which curves and tapers to a narrow point at the foot. The top of the bow is decorated with a triangular shaped collar or incised diagonal lines pointing towards the top of the head. The bow extends from the head and tapers down to the foot which has the remains of the triangular shaped catch plate. The bow has been flattended in antiquity and the pin is now missing. There are no decorative features apparent on the object. The overall dimensions are as follows: 40.21mm in length, 20.02mm in width, 4.93mm in thickness and 3.49g in weight.

The bar is narrowed and offset and the pin is now missing. The face of the frame is rounded and the reverse is flat. No decorative features are apparent. See Whitehead no. 75 for a comparable example (2003: 21). The overall dimensions are as follows: 18.7mm in length, 14.99mm in width, 3.45mm in thickness and 2g in weight.
