An incomplete medieval ampulla, which has been squashed. It has the common 'amphora' shape, with two lugs either side of the neck forming very small handles but one lug is incomplete. A cast, copper alloy vessel fragment of Medieval date, AD c 1200 - 1500. This may be almost but not quite a rim sherd coming from quite a large vessel, possibly a cauldron,  The outer surface appears to have very fine vertical patterning, beneath 2 protruding lines running round the upper vessel, parallel to the top. The fragment of the bell shows incised decoration in the form of petal motifs, which flank the foundry mark of an initial 'W', which may be foundry mark product of William Gwynn, working out of Aldbourne, Wiltshire, between c. 1770 and 1813.  The object as slightly brownish green patina. The centre bar is narrower. It also a laterally projecting circular lateral suspension loop with a 4.66 mm diameter hole. This type of buckle is associated with sword belt fittings.
