Silver Ingot
Although ingots are traditionally difficult to date without a secure archaeological context they are often attributed a Viking date. Ingots of similar overall shape are typical of the Viking period and are commonly found in Scandinavia, on the Continent, and within Britain where they generally date from the late 9th/10th century. Rounded edges are typical for Viking ingots although there is huge variation in the shape of Viking ingots, particularly as hammering can alter the form (Kruse and Graham-Campbell, 2011, pp.73-75).
