A complete silver gilt ball-headed dress pin dating to the early post-medieval period, c. AD 1500-1600. The head is spherical, divided into two by a plain applied medial band of silver. The head is decorated with eight large hemispherical knops (four on each side of the band). Each knop is surrounded by a silver filigree complete ring. One smaller knop is positioned at the opposite pole of the pin head from the pin join. Head of a copper alloy 8th- or 9th-century Anglo-Saxon disc-headed pin, probably part of a triple linked pin set. The head and part of the shaft survive in fairly good condition. The head is circular and flat with decoration on one face, and has two holes, one on each side at 90 degrees between the top of the circle and the drop of the shaft. A gold lock-ring and three small fragments of gold. The lock-ring is decorated with a series of incised concentric lines. One edge of the lock-ring is broken in a ragged edge, the other follows a neat line that may represent the original edge or a cut mark. The lock-ring is in a moderate condition, with cuts and distortion across its faces. A complete copper-alloy medieval (1200-1400) harness pendant. The object is square in plan - 20.59mm x 20.89mm - with an integral elongated lug, which is 9.36mm long, protruding from the centre of the upper edge. The lug tip has a circular perforation which is perpendicular to the pendant. The perforation is blocked with iron corrosion. The outer edge of the object is scalloped creating a square field in the centre. Within this square field there is a depiction of a castle. Massive terret ring made from cast cu-alloy, with an incomplete projection of a twin spur (lipped projection) within the ring. It would also have had a strap bar concealed at the base. Most known examples come from northern England and Scotland with an emphasis in Aberdeenshire. There are also examples from North Wales. It's very close to an example from Chesters, Northumberland in Jope 2000, 309, 291e and MacGregor 1976, 113. Generally dating from late 1st-mid 3rd century AD. The curved fragment has broadly circular section which expands in diameter from one end to the other from a diameter of 7.20mm to 10.11mm. At each end there is a circular collar-formed terminal. A possible copper alloy fob with red and blue enamel decoration. The mount is circular with 4 small openwork sections, which give the object the form of a broad equal-armed cross sitting within a circle. Cast copper alloy fragment of a sword belt fitting dating from the 16-17th centuries. This would have been one of 3 pieces hanging from the main fitting. It is foliate in design and has broken before the end. The end that is missing would have been a hook to attach it to the main fitting. There is a small circular perforation at the un-broken end in which the remains of an iton rivet sit. A similar mount is illustrated in Brian Read (page no. 39, No. 373)
