There is a short section of thin wire, with a diameter of 0.85mm terminating in a rounded point. A lead sheet with the impression of a Roman coin. The coin impresion is of a Siliqua from the reign of Gratian (367-383) - Reece Period 19. The lead sheet is sub-rectaungular in plan and weighs 70.50g; is 56.23mm long; and has a maximum width of 34.07mm and a minimum width of 26.22mm. It is 4.91mm thick. The impression is situated at the widest part of the sheet and some dammage has occured to the upper right quadrant of the object, which includes part of the impression. The coins were submitted as 9 loose coins and two clumps of coins concreted together with corrosion products. These were separated in the British Museum Conservation laboratory. Massive terret ring made from cast cu-alloy, with an incomplete projection of a twin spur (lipped projection) within the ring. It would also have had a strap bar concealed at the base. Most known examples come from northern England and Scotland with an emphasis in Aberdeenshire. There are also examples from North Wales. It's very close to an example from Chesters, Northumberland in Jope 2000, 309, 291e and MacGregor 1976, 113. Generally dating from late 1st-mid 3rd century AD. A possible copper alloy fob with red and blue enamel decoration. The mount is circular with 4 small openwork sections, which give the object the form of a broad equal-armed cross sitting within a circle. Around the outer edge of the fob are small enamelled cells which are coloured alternately red and blue. Most of these cells are now missing, and it is not possible to estimate the number of cells that would have originally been present. An incomplete copper alloy Roman or later furniture fitting (c. AD100-400). The object has a rounded top, with a circular cross-section, and has a spherical knop with central dimple on its apex. From the rounded top the object tapers in and out again to form a 'waist', with a step between the top and the 'waist'. The folowing report is from Martin Henig. "An attractive intaglio in a lower quality, base silver ring. The material of the stone is a non crystalline quartz, a chalcedony, with an upper blue layer and brownish ground, so it could be called a blue onyx or nicolo [ jewellery terms rather than scientific ones], the blue caused by staining/chemical treatment.
