A complete silver gilt ball-headed dress pin dating to the early post-medieval period, c. AD 1500-1600. The head is spherical, divided into two by a plain applied medial band of silver. The head is decorated with eight large hemispherical knops (four on each side of the band). Each knop is surrounded by a silver filigree complete ring. One smaller knop is positioned at the opposite pole of the pin head from the pin join. Description: Incomplete silver annular brooch of the Medieval period (1350-1400). The subcircular frame has a flattened, rectangular cross-section. The frame is undecorated on the reverse. The front is inscribed in Lombardic capitals reading: IESVS NAZAREN[VS]. The inscription starts and ends at the pin constriction. The pin has a D-shaped cross-section, with an integral cross-bar that divides the tapering pin from the straight-sided hook for attaching to the frame.
