A replica of Cnut of Northumbria (c. 900 - 905). This coin was found in an area of known Viking Age re-enactments and was examined by the FLO and Dr John Naylor, and was found to be a modern reproduction on the following grounds, Although the coin has inscriptions and obverse/reverse designs which are faithful to the originals, there are  problems when you examine the coin closely: the combination of obverse  (EC-1ii) and reverse (CR-G) type seen on this coin isn't seen in the Cuerdale hoard (which is a large sample) the letter forms are quite scruffy…
