A copper-alloy spectacle buckle, with pin. The frame has two oval loops which are convex in cross-section. one end has an incised notch which serves as a pin rest. The ends of each buckle are pointed. The strap bar has a triangular cross section. The frame features a knopps of each side of the projecting strap bar. The buckle frame is a patinated a light brown with some areas of lighter grey and grey green. The open looped pin is extant and complete.

A copper-alloy frame from a single-loop buckle of medieval date. For similar zoomorphic buckles, see PAS record no. BH-44C3D6, or Murawski 2003: 455, M12-0206; 456, M12-0207; 462, M12-0406. The suggested date range is 12th to 13th century. The frame takes the form of a three-dimensional animal, standing, its head at the top right hand corner of the frame, looking backwards over its shoulder. The bar is missing, however the there are clear signs of a break at animals feet where the bar once would have been. There are two grooves under the animal's legs that deliniate the feet.
