A copper alloy post medieval to modern clog clasp inscribed with the motto: GOD SAVE THE KING. It dates from the 18th century and probably refers to George III. The clasp has a broadly rectangular die-stamped plate with three sub-rectangular perforations (possibly for attachment). The perforations have clearly been made after the inscription, as the perforations cut through the wording, which suggests reuse, possibly from one shoe to another that had a different fitting. Incomplete copper alloy socketed axehead of probable Late Bronze Age date, c. 1300-700 BC.
The artefact is the blade of the axe and consists of a broadly curved cutting edge with sides that flare out to reveal a hollow interior cavity. The artefact is sub-trapezoidal in plan. The broken edges are transverse to the cutting edge and are uneven, but all edges are abraded and chipped. The artefact has a powdery green patina.

A fragment of a copper-alloy harness fitting terret ring of late Iron Age to Roman date, c.100 BC - AD 100. The terret is a 'simple' type. All that remains is one section of the loop with a collar, and a small section of the sub oval strap bar.

A copper alloy massive lipped terret ring of late iron age to early Roman date AD50 - AD200. It has an incomplete projection of a twin spur (lipped projection) within the ring. It would also have had a strap bar concealed at the base. Most known examples come from northern England and Scotland with an emphasis in Aberdeenshire. There are also examples from North Wales. It's very close to an example from Chesters, Northumberland in Jope 2000, 309, 291e and MacGregor 1976, 113.

An incomplete copper alloy (bronze) probable socketed axehead or chisel fragment, of Late Bronze Age dating (c. 950 BC to c. 750 BC). The expanded blade has a curved convex (crescent shaped) cutting edge which is incomplete. The sides do not appear to be faceted and no ribs are present on either the front or back of the axehead fragment. The blade shows signs of wear to the edge, suggesting that this miniature axehead was a tool and not a small votive offering.

The mount is circular with 4 small openwork sections, which give the object the form of a broad equal-armed cross sitting within a circle. Complete copper-alloy belt and buckle style finger ring of post-medieval date (c. 1600 - 1800 AD). The ring is of simple design: a wide and flat band with a moulded bezel in the shape of a D-shaped buckle. The band has three dots, which presumably represent belt holes. the middle hole is not evenly spaced with the first and last dots. The inner face of the band is flat while the outer face is slightly convex, giving the finger ring a D-shaped section. There is no inscription. A cast copper-alloy Post Medieval cup weight, 28.84mm in diameter and weighing 26.72g. It is not possible to see if there are any markings on the inside bottom of the cup due to corrosion and/or extant residue. There is an incised double-banded linear decoration running around approximately 2/3 of the way up the interior of the surface. the wall thickness is 2.24mm; while the diameter at the botton of the wall is 20.60.mm
This cup weight may have formed part of a nested set similar to an example from Salisbury (Saunders 2001; 130, fig. 43, ref: 28b), dated from the 13th century. …

Discovery: Found on 28th July 2016 within a small area (between 4 and 10 inches depth) on cultivated stubble while metal detecting
The hoard consists of 6 complete copper alloy rings, 1 incomplete copper alloy ring, 5 copper alloy ring fragments, a circular disc and lug object and 2 sherds of pottery that are thought to date to the Late Bronze Age. Each object is described below while parallels are reserved for the discussion at the end of this report.

A complete cast copper alloy finger ring, of probable Early Post Medieval dating (16th to 17th Centuries AD). The finger ring is of the signet ring style, with a raised rectangular bezel. The shoulders are plain and do not expand from the width of the hoop. The hoop is plain and D shaped in cross section and oval in plan. The device on the bezel has an elongated octagonal border which contains a trefoiled flower with two - possibly four - leaves. No direct comparison has been found.

A complete cast copper alloy dress hook of early Post-Medieval date, c. AD 1500 - 1700. The dress hook is of Read's Class E, Type 3: circular in plan and with a rectangular attachment loop. The dress hook has a cast openwork body, with a central cross; each quarter has an openwork trefoil or quatrefoil. The outer edge of the body is decorated with a line of pellets. The hook at the base is complete, but bent. Parallels include FAKL-14FC6A, YORYM-681DC6 and Read (2008) p. 99 number 370-371.

Post medieval or modern copper-alloy signet ring with shield-shaped bezel, decorated shoulders and plain hoop. The hoop is D-shaped in cross section. The ring has thick, wide shoulders, supporting a flat, shield-shaped bezel. The bezel has a pointed base, incurved long edges and a top edge with two incurved part, reaching a point at the centre. This shield shape suggests an 18th or 19th century date. The ring is intact but is in poor condition and its surface is very pitted. There are a few similar examples in the database, including DYFED-45A57E, HAMP-5F0686 and HAMP-0320E4.

An incomplete copper-alloy medieval buckle that conforms well to a Meols type 10 c.AD 1350 - 1400. The pin is missing, leaving just the frame. The buckle is a single looped, oval with a narrowed and offset bar and ornate outer edges. Two prominent knops flank two grooves on the outer edge of the loop which act as rests for the pin.
The buckle weighs 4.15g; is 20.27mm deep and 26.09mm wide.

An incomplete copper alloy Roman or later furniture fitting (c. AD100-400). The object has a rounded top, with a circular cross-section, and has a spherical knop with central dimple on its apex. From the rounded top the object tapers in and out again to form a 'waist', with a step between the top and the 'waist'. There is a further step betwen the 'waist' and the foot of the fitting which is a flat, circular base. There is a circular protrusion for attachment on the underside of the base. An incomplete cast copper-alloy cup-headed stud inlaid with green enamel. Sally Worrell has comented that such studs are late Iron Age or Early Roman, usually with either a blue or red enamel (see FAKL-FCD5C7). This example has a green enamel with no traces of blue or red. The head is cup-shaped and is roughly circular in plan. The diameter of the head is 14.44mm and the cup has a thickness of 5.57mm. On the under side of the cup is a truncated shank, 4.65mm diameter x 2.44mm long.

A pressed copper-alloy sheet which is a component of an incomplete powder flask. The object probably equates to one half of a powder flask. The object is roughly pear shaped with a flat top at its narrowest point, and has a piercing at its narrow end. The date is probably ealry to late post medieval, however the lack of decoration makes this object problematic to date.
The object is 71.38mm at its widest, 155.15 long, and 0.93mm thick.

Massive terret ring made from cast cu-alloy, with an incomplete projection of a twin spur (lipped projection) within the ring. It would also have had a strap bar concealed at the base. Most known examples come from northern England and Scotland with an emphasis in Aberdeenshire. There are also examples from North Wales. It's very close to an example from Chesters, Northumberland in Jope 2000, 309, 291e and MacGregor 1976, 113. Generally dating from late 1st-mid 3rd century AD.

A copper alloy flanged axehead of Early Middle Bronze Age date of later short-flanged axe of Type Ulcrome. The axehead dates to c. Acton Park II / Taunton phase of early MBA which corresponds to Needham typology date is c. 1600-1300 BC.
The blade of the palstave is a splayed/crescent-shaped, with convex expanding sides, and a convex cutting edge, which is damaged. In profile the blade is sub-triangular with the widest section being at the stop ridge. The blade is 90.31mm in length. The width of the cutting edge measures 38.21mm. A complete copper-alloy medieval (1200-1400) harness pendant. The object is square in plan - 20.59mm x 20.89mm - with an integral elongated lug, which is 9.36mm long, protruding from the centre of the upper edge. The lug tip has a circular perforation which is perpendicular to the pendant. The perforation is blocked with iron corrosion. A copper-alloy frame from a single-loop buckle of medieval date. For similar zoomorphic buckles, see PAS record no. BH-44C3D6, or Murawski 2003: 455, M12-0206; 456, M12-0207; 462, M12-0406. The suggested date range is 12th to 13th century. The frame takes the form of a three-dimensional animal, standing, its head at the top right hand corner of the frame, looking backwards over its shoulder. The bar is missing, however the there are clear signs of a break at animals feet where the bar once would have been. There are two grooves under the animal's legs that deliniate the feet.

Head of a copper alloy 8th- or 9th-century Anglo-Saxon disc-headed pin, probably part of a triple linked pin set. The head and part of the shaft survive in fairly good condition. The head is circular and flat with decoration on one face, and has two holes, one on each side at 90 degrees between the top of the circle and the drop of the shaft. If the shaft emerges at 6 o'clock, the hole at 9 o'clock is now incomplete. Surviving width 26mm, surviving length 39mm. The object dates to c.AD 700-900.

A fragment of a copper-alloy Trumpet brooch of Roman date, c. AD 75 - 175. The head is ovate with a double lug hinge mechanism to the reverse. The pin no longer remains. A D-sectioned bow extends from the front of the head but is much truncateed. The patina is a dark green.
Similar examples are illustrated in Hattatt, p.327, fig.186 and are dated to circa AD 75 - 175.
