It comprises two rectangular sheet copper alloy plates, both with a central circular aperture, possibly for a missing separate decorative element. The short edge of each plate exhibits a central circular notch. The two plates are held together by four rivets, one at each corner, the ends roved over. Incomplete Early Saxon copper alloy small-long brooch of Leeds 1945 square-head (panelled) type dating to the period c. AD 480 - 500. The head is rectangular with a raised rectangular panel at the centre of the head. The panel to each side is decorated by a border of punched crescents. The central panel forms facets at the top of the arched bow which exhibits a slight central mid-rib and terminates in an old break. On the reverse of the head is a single pierced lug housing the corroded remains of the iron spring. The lower bow, foot and catchplate are missing.

Fragment of a Roman copper alloy brooch, probably a headstud type, dating to the period c. AD 75 - 150. Only the foot remains. It comprises a short section of the lower bow with the stub of the catchplate projecting from the reverse. The knobbed foot exhibits a recess at the bottom which retains traces of enamel arranged in a series of concentric circles. The outer circle appears to be black or brown, within is a circle of white enamel and a central recess which would have probably also contained enamel.
