A plated silver contemporary copy of a radiate of Philip II as caesar (AD 247-249), dating to the period c.AD 244-247 (Reece period 12). LIBERALITAS AVG III reverse type depicting Liberalitas standing left holding abacus and cornucopiae. Prototype of the mint of Rome. This coin combines an obverse of Philip II as caesar with a reverse type proper to Gordian III, cf. RIC IV.3, p. 23, no. 67 for the reverse type and RIC IV.3, p. 80, no. 95 for its use as a reverse type with Philip I.
