An incomplete late medieval or post-medieval lead token, probably dating to the period c. AD 1400-1600. The token depicts one one side a long cross with circule around the the middle of the cross, with a pellet in each quarter thus created, surrounded by an outer border of pellets. The opposing side depicts an indecipherable design, possibly lettering or possibly an object. In the current orientation the design is ship-like, possible a mast and the hull, although the token being found so far in land tends to negate this interpretation. The 'mast' of the ship may be a cross, although t…

A worn but compete lead alloy token dated (AD) 1728. The token is unifaced with the initials S B above the date, divided by raised horizontal lines. The reverse appears plain. These objects were probably tokens or tallies issued to farm workers, in a similar fashion to early modern hop tokens. They could also be a form of advertisement, a poor-man's version of 17/18th century trade tokens.
