A fragment of a Roman fibula brooch, consisting of the lower section of the bow and the catch plate. The bow has horizontal linear mouldings while the catch plate is large and solid. This is probably from a large Dolphin or Colchester derivitive brooch, dating from c. AD 43-200. There may be some silvering / white metal coating evident.

A fragment of cast copper alloy Roman brooch, possibly a Langton Down or Rosette style brooch of Late Iron Age / early Roman date, c. AD 25-60. Only the lower section of the brooch remains which is parallel-sided and decorated with linear ridges and with the remains of the catch-plate on the reverse. Note the image is upsidedown.

A large, incomplete, copper-alloy dolphin or Colchester derivative (double lug) style brooch, dating to the early Roman period c. AD 43-100. The brooch retains its wings which have simple cast linear decoration to either end. The spring casing is C-shaped in section and the spring, although damaged, survives but the pin is missing. The bow of the brooch has a cast rib down its length from the spring lug. The lower half of the brooch is missing.

An incomplete, copper-alloy La Tene III Nauheim progenitor Drahtfibel one piece brooch, dating from the late Iron Age c. 80 BC -AD 100. The bow of the brooch, which is sub-circular in section is complete. Part of one of the spring coils remains but is bent out of shape. Towards the foot of the brooch is the remains of a large openwork catch-plate however the foot of the bow is broken and missing. Cf. Mackreth 2011 plate 11 no. 4479.

An incomplete Roman enamelled copper-alloy plate brooch in the form of a horse and rider, dating to the period c.AD 200-400. The form of the brooch is complete, but the pin and some enamel are missing. The brooch depicts a horse advancing right with a rider leaning backwards at an angle, possbily suggesting motion. The eyes of both horse and rider are indicated by circular indentations; the horse's mane is indicated by a series of grooves at the top of the head and, more faintly, the back of the neck. A incomplete cast copper-alloy Roman brooch probably of the trumpet derivative class and dating to the period AD 75-175. The brooch is missing the upper bow, head and pin. The bow of the brooch is decorated at the top with a (broken) panel of three raised vertical ribs. Below this is a contraction with a raised, stylised acanthus-like collar in the centre. The lower section of the brooch has raised diagonal moulding above a sub-triangular sectioned stem which tapers towards the foot, which has a rounded flat-based terminal knop. The wide catch-plate on the reverse is complete.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy Roman strip bow brooch in very good condition, dating to the 1st century AD (c. AD 40-70). Only the upper third of the brooch survives, comprising the rolled arms of the head of the brooch and part of the bow. The wings are divided by a short v-shaped slot at the top where the hinged pin is retained but this is a different alloy to the rest of the brooch, which has a bluish-green patina. An incomplete cast copper-alloy late Iron Age brooch of the La Tène III, Nauheim derivative type dating from c. 50 BC - AD 80. The brooch is a large example, with tapering flat rod bow decorated with three sets of transverse parallel lines. At the head of the brooch is an incised saltire design. The head narrows into a neck before the integral spring coils, of which only one of four survives. The pin is missing. The bow tapers towards the foot which evolves into the wide catch-plate, which is undecorated and complete but now twisted.
