An incomplete Roman copper alloy Hod Hill brooch, of the bottom section of the bow and catchplate. It measures 45.96mm in length and weighs 3.34 grams. The bow is incomplete, the surviving section is broadly rectangular in plan before tapering to the foot. The top part of the bow is decorated with a central vertical rib flanked by two vertical grooves. Below is a further horizontal groove and a horizontal rib. An incomplete copper alloy Roman knee brooch of the tubular headed type dating to c. AD 150 - 250. The spring mechanism, wings, upper bow and horizontal catchplate are missing. It measures 24.76mm in length and weighs 3.66g. The bow extends from the break in an accentuated curve, the upper half of the bow is missing. It is rectangular in section with width 10.64mm and thickness 2.11mm. the lower section of the bow survives and tapers from a horizontal ridge to the projecting foot. The surviving section of the foot is D shaped, the catch plate would have projected from the reverse.…
