A copper alloy contemporary copy of an as of Caligula (AD 37-41) (Reece Period 1), struck in honour of Marcus Agrippa (died 12 BC), S C, Neptune standing left. Prototype Mint of Rome - RIC I, p. 112, no. 58. For a copy, see Boon, Counterfeit Coins in Roman Britain, plate III, no. 36. A number of these copies have been found recently on the excavations at the Bloomberg Site in London (Julian Bowsher, pers. comm.). The coin appears to have been serrated which is a phenomenon noted by Dr Philippa Walton has noted on coins from Piercebridge.
