A post-medieval cast copper-alloy double loop oval buckle with angled frames dating to period c. AD 1500-1650. The buckle has double loops which are D-shaped in plan, with a straight bar between them. The frame is undecorated. The pin is missing.
The frame measures 38.36 mm in length, 35.29 mm in width and weighs 6.18 g. The outer frame measures 2.35 mm in thickness, whilst the narrowed strap bar where the pin would have been attached measures 2.73 mm in thickness.
Similar buckles can be seen in Whitehead 2003, p.55 (CHECK REFERENCE)

An incomplete copper alloy buckle plate of medieval date. The plate preserves decoration of an incised X and traces of light green enamel. There are two broken narrowed integral strips that would have wrapped around the strap bar, and at the opposite end there are two copper alloy rivets.The metal has a red patina and is worn.
Overall the object is 28.28 mm long (25.28 mm long without the strips), 22.87 mm wide, 2.12 mm thick and weighs 6.91 g.
