A rim sherd of ceramic, possibly Romano-British grey ware, vessel (AD c.50-400). The fabric is hard and fairly fine with unoxidised light grey core. It contains a small number of quartz, black and mica inclusions. At the angle between the rim and the body a projecting bead is preserved. The rim has two horizontal grooves on the exterior. Traces of orange slip are preserved on both the exterior and the interior. Wheel marks on the exterior. A base sherd of ceramic Roman coarse ware vessel (AD c. 50-400). The fabric is hard and coarse with unoxidised light grey and buff core. Dark grey fabric on both the exterior and the interior. The sherd contains a large number of quartz, black and mica incusions. An incised line runs around the round base on the exterior and traces of a small vertical break on the body and the base are also visible on the exterior. Overal dimensions: height: 31.5 mm, maximum width: 71.2 mm, thickness of body: 11.7 mm, diameter of base: 36.7 mm, weight: 88.55 g.
