A copper-alloy pair of shears dating to late 14th or 15th century. The shears can be identified as Ward-Perkins Type IV on the 'Medieval Catalogue' of London Museum (1940, pp. 153-158). They measure 110.83mm in length, 19.83mm in width, 2.92mm thick and weigh 16.21g. The shears consist of two longitudinal blades jointed together by a circular loop on top. The latter measures 18.02mm in external diameter and 11.04mm in internal diameter. A lead alloy post-medieval token, probably dating to between 16th and 17th century AD. The token has been heavily crushed and folded on itself so that one of the faces is almost completely coverd by the other except for its upper edge, showing a series of letters, probably part of a legend. The only visible face has a central design surrounded by the inscription. Although it is not clear whether the token has been deliberately bent, folded coins and tokens are often interpreted as prayers and offerings.
