A Roman (AD 43-100) copper alloy early Continental cruciform plate brooch with tinned (or silvered) surface to the front and a hinge mechanism, missing its pin and the curl of the catchplate. All damage is old. The plate is flat in cross-section (c. 1.3mm thick) with incurved edges, which terminate in two lobes divided by a central groove at the top and bottom of the brooch (these are now missing at the top), with the two sides terminating in single knops (only one survives). An incomplete Roman (AD 43-100) copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, double-lugged, Harlow type. It is missing most of its spring mechanism, the lower bow and catchplate. Part of the cord is retained in the upper piercing of the lug. The wings are C-shaped in cross-section (concave to the reverse and convex to the front) and span 25.0mm. At the centre of the reverse and extending above into the top of the bow is the double-pierced lug, which is D-shaped. A medieval (c.1200-1400) copper-alloy gilt annular brooch, complete but with much of the original surface worn away. It carries an inscription on both faces. Gilding is retained in the grooved linear border which flanks both outer and inner edge of the frame on both faces, in the lettering and to the external edge of the frame which has a border of punched annulets. A medieval (probably 1200-1300) silver annular brooch of zoomorphic form, complete with its sheet silver pin. The brooch frame has an internal diameter of 10.7mm, an external diameter of 15.7mm, and weighs 1.73g. The frame is trapezoidal in cross-section, being flat on the underside, with a line of single punched annulets along the flat top. The sides of the trapezoid are decorated with a line of squares in relief.
