A fragment from a copper alloy vessel of medieval to post-medieval date. The fragment is sub-triangular in shape and comes from the rim of the vessel. The interior surface is smooth, with a well-defined lip at the rim. The outer surface is slightly coarser with some pitting. The curvature at the rim suggests a wide vessel, with a radius of 240-260 mm. The walls are relatively thin at 3 mm. Possibly a laver. Cast copper-alloy vessels were in common usage c 1200 - 1700 AD, becoming superceded in the 18th century by cast-iron vessels.
