Grid E17 A sherd of Severn Valley courseware pottery dating from the Roman period (c.AD50-410). The small size of the sherd makes it difficult it determine the exact style and shape of the original vessel. The sherd is irregular in plan, with the main body having a rectangular cross-section. The fabric is course but a soft earthenware with angular and sub-angular black grit and quartz inclusions. The fabric is also mica rich. The fabric colour is light orange. The sherd measures 14.2mm in length, 8.4mm in width, is 3.8mm thick and weighs 0.4g.
