Record ID: LVPL-F0EBE9
Object type: CASTING WASTE
Broad period: UNKNOWN
County: Northamptonshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Copper alloy object of unknown date or purpose, possibly a casting sprue/jet or vessel leg, or some other type of artefact. It consists of a shaft projecting from a curved plate. Neither looks properly finished but this maybe an indication of crude manufacture rather than a result of being casting waste.
Impossible to date without knowing function but it could be of any time within the range from c43 to c1900 AD. The length is 47mm, width 24mm (shaft 8mm), thickness 20mm (shaft 6mm), and the weight 68.7g.
