The body of the object is broadly circular with a projecting lobe at each upper outer corner. An integral flat vertical rectangular bar is present running along the centre of the padlock face. A fragment from a vessel, probably a jug or a small amphora of Roman date, circa Ad 43-410.  The fragment consists of a small section of rim and body that contains the remains of the handle. The remains of the handle have a width of 42.3 mm. The fabric is a cream colour with frequent inclusions between 1 to 2 mm in size. The fabric is abraded in the internal surface.  The fragment measures 63.2 mm in height, 61.1 mm in width, 19 mm in thickness and weighs 57.4 grams.
