An incomplete copper alloy Colchester derivative, Polden Hill brooch c. f. Mackreth 2011, Chapter 3, Part 3. Group 4a or 4b. The foot, catch plate, pin and the ends of the wings are missing, presumably lost in antiquity. In plan, the brooch is almost T-shaped. The bow head is hump-like, and angular (comma shaped) in profile, with near-cylindrical wings (the back of the wings is flat) projecting from either side at the top. A complete copper alloy buckle, probably from a spur, dating perhaps to the 11th to 13th centuries AD. The buckle has a triangular or trapezoidal frame, D-shaped in cross-section with a flat reverse. There is a projecting pin rest in the centre of the straight outside edge. The pin hole is set in a rounded lobe which projects into the interior of the frame at the apex of the triangle. An incomplete copper-alloy probable hair pin of the Roman period, dating from c. AD 43 - c. AD 410. The object is cylindrical in plan and circular in section. The head of the pin head is circular in section, with a bulbous knop which extends slightly to a pointed, blunt tip. Below this knop there is a circumferential groove.
