This coin could also be a contemporary copy or continental sterling copy. Long cross reverse type, with three pellets in each quarter. The obverse depicts a bifoliate crowned bust facing. The coin has been damaged, and is bent towards the obverse. A complete rim sherd of a wheel thrown vessel of the Post Medieval period dating from c. AD 1600 - c. AD 1700. The rim sherd consists of a fabric similar to that known as Black ware, dating from the 17th - 18th century. The sherd is triangular in plan and rectangular in section. The exterior is a dark purple in colour. The interior is covered with a dark purple to black glaze, the glaze has small air bubbles in the surface. The rim sherd consists of a fabric similar to that known as Midlands Purple ware, dating from the 14th to 16th century. The rim would have measured approximately 60 cm and there is only 12.75% remaining. There are small white and brown inclusions present in the sherd.
