Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A complete silver post-medieval finger ring (AD c.1500-c.1900). The finger ring is broadly circular in shape. The hoop is plain and has a D-shaped cross-section. The bezel is an undecorated broadly D-shaped dome with D-shaped cross-section. The light weight of the ring suggests that the bezel is hollow. The inner edge of the bezel is warped, possibly as a result of post-depositional damage or a flaw during the making process. The crudeness of the ring suggests a post-medieval date, but the ring is otherwise undiagnostic. The finger ring has a internal diameter of 15.4 mm, and…

An incomplete silver groat of Elizabeth I (AD 1558 to AD 1603), probably dating to the period AD 1558 to AD 1561, issued as part of the first coinage issue. Minted at the Tower (London). Initial marks unclear. Probably North vol II, p133, no 1986. Length: 23.4 mm Width: 18.1 mm Thickness: 0.6 mm Weight: 1.2 g Coin is poor quality, it is coated with a brown coloured patina. Much of the detail is obscurred. It is possible, given the poor quality of the silver, this coin could be a contemporary copy.
