A fragment of a copper alloy, side looped and socketed spear (spearhead) of probably the Middle Bronze Age period, dating from c. BC 1500 - c. BC 1150. The fragment would have made the tip of the spear. The object is broadly triangular in plan and lozenge (diamond shaped) in section. There is a raised rib running the length of the fragment on both the front and the reverse face. From the rib each side of the fragment slopes down towards the blade. Approximately 75% of the brooch is present, consisting of the head, bow and wings. An incomplete silver groat of Elizabeth I (AD 1558 to AD 1603), probably dating to the period AD 1558 to AD 1561, issued as part of the first coinage issue. Minted at the Tower (London). Initial marks unclear. Probably North vol II, p133, no 1986. Length: 23.4 mm Width: 18.1 mm Thickness: 0.6 mm Weight: 1.2 g Coin is poor quality, it is coated with a brown coloured patina. Much of the detail is obscurred. It is possible, given the poor quality of the silver, this coin could be a contemporary copy.

In profile it is broadly lentoid (pointed oval), with slight tapering edges. In cross section the axe is lentoid.
