A complete gold signet finger ring of the Post Medieval period, probably dating from c. AD 1500 - c. AD 1700.
The ring is broadly circular in plan and D shaped in section. There is an oval bezel at the top that is raised slightly. The bezel has been decorated with an incised cipher depicting the letters 'AV' that are interlocked. There is an incised border surrounding the letters, with a pellet or beaded border surrounding that. The shoulders are triangular where they meet the bezel and taper in to form a rectangular band.

The finger ring comprises a rectangular bezel and a D-shaped sectioned hoop. The shoulders are rectangular in shape, decorated with three or four diagonal incised grooves on the outer edge at each shoulder. The bezel is rectangular in plan and trapezoidal in cross-section.
