An incomplete copper alloy Brooch probably of the Post Medieval to Modern period, dating from c. AD 1700 - AD 1950. Around 90% of the brooch remains, comprising of the main body of the brooch and the catch plate or suspension hook (that would have held the pin in place), the pin is missing, presumed lost in antiquity. The brooch is broadly rectangular in plan and trapezoidal in section. In the centre of the brooch is a cut rectangular piece of glass or a semi precious stone, it is purple in colour and transluscent. It is flat and appears to have been polished on the front. On th…
