Roman copper alloy bow brooch fragment probably from a Trumpet or Trumpet derivative brooch of 1st or 2nd century AD date. The brooch fragment is from a swivelling chain loop (with a surviving length of 20.3mm and a weight of 1.7g) and comprises the wire chain loop with attached frontal plate of disc form. The wire (1.2mm diameter) forms a loop at the apex (7.6mm wide) and is wider at the base (with a surviving width of 17.7mm) to accommodate the spring.
