The cast stud is fragmentary, missing the lower part of the shaft (with a surviving length of 24.0mm and a weight of 13.5g). The head is near-spherical (with a diameter of 14.0mm - 15.3mm and a height of 13.2mm) with flat facets on both the apex and base. No applied decoration is evident on the head. The cast mount comprises a sub-circular loop on an integral domed base (with an overall length of 40.3mm and a weight of 38.3g). The loop (35.1mm wide x28.6mm high external and 23.9mm wide and 20.2mm high internal) is circular sectioned (5 - 6mm diameter) and is undecorated. There is a slight suggestion of wear facets on the interior of the top of the loop, which if correct, would seem to suggest strap-rubbing. The brooch fragment is from a swivelling chain loop (with a surviving length of 20.3mm and a weight of 1.7g) and comprises the wire chain loop with attached frontal plate of disc form. The wire (1.2mm diameter) forms a loop at the apex (7.6mm wide) and is wider at the base (with a surviving width of 17.7mm) to accommodate the spring.
