The reported object is a silver signet ring, now incomplete (part of hoop missing). It has a flat, circular bezel for the matrix, which has the form of a round-petalled quatrefoil within pellets in the inter-leaf spaces, within a single circular rope border. Gold decorative ring with central spine of very fine raised pellets, between two raised plain borders. The inside of the hoop is plain. Post medieval copper alloy finger-ring, probably of 16th or 17th century date The finger-ring is complete but distorted, now oval (24.1mm x 16.2mm and with a weight of 2.3g). The band is flat-sectioned with a consistent width (of 5.1mm and a thickness of 1.1mm). The deeply-stamped geometric decoration is divided into seven repeating panels but of uncertain interpretation. In the interior of the hoop is undecorated. The surface has been stripped with a dark-brown corrosion and traces of gilding surviving the recessed decoration.
