Late Medieval copper alloy buckle of 15th century date
The buckle is incomplete, missing the majority of the frame and the back-plate (with a length of 55.5mm and a weight of 10.4g). The frame was likely to have been of oval form (with a surviving length of 10.0mm and a surviving width of 30.2mm) and is of sub-rectangular section (3.7mm wide and 3.2mm thick) decorated, at least on the sides with transverse grooves. Medieval copper alloy buckle of annular type and of mid 13th to mid 15th century date
The buckle frame is near-circular (24.5mm - 45.4mm external diameter, 34.2mm - 35.2mm internal diameter and weighing 16.9g) and is of faceted, sub-oval section (4.1mm - 5.3mm wide and 4.3mm - 5.2mm thick). Faceting on the frame may be the result of wear from a strap. There is no pin restriction on the frame.
