Roman copper alloy bow brooch of T-shaped type and of 1st - 2nd century AD date
The brooch is near-complete, missing the pin but with a badly distorted bow (With a distorted length of 34.8mm, a straightened length of approximately 69mm, a distorted depth of 18.7mm and a weight of g). The top of the pin survives and is hinged within oval-sectioned tubular wings (6.8mm x 5.2mm and with a width of 31.4mm) with a copper alloy axis bar. Iron Age copper alloy bow brooch of Colchester-one-piece type and of 1st century AD date
The brooch is near-complete but distorted, missing the catch-plate (with a length of 46.7mm, a distorted length of 64.8mm, depth of 13.7mm, and a weight of 8.4g). The spring is complete but one half is distorted above the head. The spring coils three-times each side of the centre (with a width of 5.7mm and a diameter of 6.5mm) and the chord is tensioned by a rearward facing hook at the head.
