The brooch is incomplete, missing the catch-plate and half of the spring, with pin (with a length of 58.4mm, a depth of 18.1mm and a weight of 6.4g). The brooch is near-complete but distorted, missing the catch-plate (with a length of 46.7mm, a distorted length of 64.8mm, depth of 13.7mm, and a weight of 8.4g). The spring is complete but one half is distorted above the head. The spring coils three-times each side of the centre (with a width of 5.7mm and a diameter of 6.5mm) and the chord is tensioned by a rearward facing hook at the head.
